Happy Earth Day!

Every April, people around the world observe Earth Day by showing their commitment to improving the environment. The theme for Earth Day 2022 is “Invest In Our Planet,” which is about finding ways to make time in your community to be more sustainable. We’ve come up with a few fun ways to promote recycling and reusing while also giving your home an exciting spring refresh!

Host A Decor Swap Soirée

Invite some friends over, serve spring cocktails and charcuterie in your backyard, and ask everyone to bring several décor items in great condition to trade with each other. Maybe your own colour scheme has changed or a piece no longer fits with your current style - these are the perfect items for a décor swap soirée. This type of event can work for jewelry, holiday decorations, clothing and accessories, and anything else in good condition that can be reused.

Buy Antiques & Vintage Decor

Incorporating antique furniture and vintage décor into your home adds tremendous character and charm. We love mixing it up with contemporary pieces to balance the look. These high-quality items are usually made from wood, stone or metals and last much longer than many newer options from stores today. In addition, most antique furniture and décor end up in landfills, so when you buy antique and vintage items, you are saving the resources that would be used to create new items and helping lower landfill waste. It’s a win-win!

There are so many ways to create a more sustainable home life. Here are some more ideas:

-Decorate with nature. Fill your home with luscious green plants, branches, unique rocks and shells.

-Rearrange the furniture you already have. Moving things around can update a room entirely.

-Move your art to different spaces in your home.

-Recover your headboard or sofas with new fabric.

-Shop from your parent’s home! You may find some unique treasures that might look beautiful in your home.
