Whether you’re looking to do a little home refresh or are fully remodeling, there are lots of ways to make your home look custom. Below we’ve assembled some tips for creating a home that feels unique and personalized. Some of our ideas are easy changes while others are more substantial - but each will enhance the look of your home and give it that custom feel!

Update Your Lighting

Changing out your lighting can instantly breathe new life into a space. Replace the sconces in your hallway, add statement pendant lights above your kitchen island, or a picture light above your favorite painting - all of these can really enhance a room!

Add Tile, Paint or Wallpaper

It’s amazing what tile or wallpaper can do to a space or simply give it a fresh coat of paint and the space is transformed! We love this built-in bar area with its dramatic dark tile and moody floral wallpaper.

Replace Your Hardware

Swap your standard hardware out for something more stylish. Update your kitchen, bathroom, mudroom or built-in cabinets with new unique hardware pieces to give a fresh look to a dated space.

Upgrade Staircase Features

Usually a staircase is situated very prominently in a home, so upgrading a dated staircase can make a big difference. Consider a new railing, stain or paint, trimmed or tile risers, or a new runner.

Add A Little Wall Detail

It sounds complicated but it can be quite simple and cost effective. Custom paneling, wainscoting and shiplap are just a few of the ways to update your walls. Consider molding strips as a less expensive way to get the look of paneling. Then add a new paint color on top and you have a brand new space!

Dress Up Your Ceiling

This can be a larger project, but adding solid or boxed beams, paneling or unique trim to a ceiling is just gorgeous. Or you can wallpaper the ceiling…

Create Built-ins

Custom cabinetry is a great way to upgrade your home. Bookshelves, TV cabinets, desks, closets, and pantries that perfectly fit into your space make a house look much more custom.
