How To Make Your Home Smell Amazing

We’re going to let you in on a little secret. To create a lovely smelling home it requires subtly blending different types of scents. Yes, it’s a bit like science but less messy, and very beautiful. By layering fragrances you create a unique, signature fragrance for your home. Below we explain how exactly you can do this.

1. Think About the Space

Room size and use are important factors when choosing home fragrances. You don’t want a scent that is too loud or strong, especially if the space is small. If your home is where you work, rest and enjoy family time, scents can help divide up the space and create clear distinctions between activities, time and moods.

If dinner is being prepared in the kitchen, a floral candle wouldn’t layer well with the scent of food. Try a bright, fresh citrus scent in the kitchen and a soft floral or vanilla for the bathroom.

Think about your space and what types of fragrances you would enjoy in each of them. Scents can create the right atmosphere in each space to reflect how you want to feel.

2. Use Different Methods of Scents

Place your favorite diffusers (like our AMIS Reed Diffusers), candles and freshly picked flowers in different rooms. Experiment with moving them around. Bergamot smells lovely with sandalwood and jasmine, and violet compliments lavender perfectly. Try blending a candle, diffuser, and room spray (like our AMIS Room & Linen Sprays) with different scents and see how you like them.

3. Pick out Fragrant Flowers

Make your home smell like Spring with flowers such as roses, lilies, gardenias, lavender, hyacinths, tuberose, orchids and lilacs, which are among the most fragrant. Fresh blooms layered with a light scented candle can enhance any space.
